In 1964, the community of Reston began as an integrated housing development, leading the way for other communities to prioritize desegregation (originally passed in 1959).
Reston’s founder, Robert E. Simon, Jr. envisioned Reston to be home for everyone from all walks of life, regardless of their race, gender, or economic status.
